To Be a Blessing - Genesis 12:1-9

This week is the first Sunday in a long stretch on our church calendar of what is called Ordinary Time.  And that doesn’t mean that it isn’t special, or that the next five months aren’t as important as our Holy Seasons of Advent, Lent, and Easter.  The term “ordinary time”, just comes from the Latin word ordinalis, which means numbered.  Because that is how we describe these weeks.

For the next four weeks, we will journey with a man named Abram, who God renamed Abraham and his wife Sarai, who will later be named Sarah… We will follow them in all their earnest, imperfect, and all-too-human attempts to believe God’s promises and live accordingly.

In this week’s message, we will hear Abram call story, and we will be encouraged to follow God faithfully even when we don’t know the destination.  Perhaps more importantly, we will remember that Abram was blessed to be a blessing, and so are we!
