Advent Week Two: The First Word
Matthew 3:1-12
This week, John the Baptist makes his annual appearance in our Advent readings. In our scripture from the Book of Matthew, we will hear again of the locust-and-honey-eating prophet living in the wilderness, preparing the world for the arrival of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
Our Advent sermon will focus on the first word of John’s message… repent. We will talk about what that word means to us as Christians, and why it truly is the first word of the Gospel!
