Lives of Hope and Faith, Part Three:  The Tax Collector and the Pharisee

Luke 19:9-14

In our scripture this week, we look at a tough lesson from Jesus Christ, our one true teacher.  Our Lord reminds us that when we take pride in our own righteousness, we inevitably looked down upon others; we puff ourselves up and put others down.

Through the powerful parable of the Tax Collector and the Pharisee, Jesus reminds us that we are all sinners, and we are saved by God’s grace alone.  We remember as a people that we are simply called to turn to Christ with open and honest hearts of repentance, knowing in our hearts that He alone, can save us.
